Year 6 visit to Lepe Beach D-Day memorial event
This was a great day with many thoughtful moments spent learning and thinking about the people who lost their lives in the D-Day landings.
Off on a code breaking task; we had to find letters and create a word from them. We learned what 'caissons' and 'dolphins' were.
Just look at how this seagull appears to have a little source of light above him :) It was a reflective day and many children questioned why world wars ended up happening. A difficult one to understand.
Always time for fun on the beach. They had just been skimming stones.
Learning about how important maps were.
Piecing together a map of the New Forest. It was a great place for hiding tanks/camps/planes.
Matching up locations on 70 year old map to a modern one.
A mixture of weather made for added fun!
